Aqabat is one of the most dramatic mountain villages of the Musandam Peninsula. Sitting just below Jebel Qihwi it enjoys spectacular views across deep valleys to the eastern coast. Our adventure starts with a one hour 4X4 drive to Rus Al Jebel. We start our trek, following a narrow trail, down into a valley and then up towards the ridgeline. We rest for a while on the smooth flat rocks before trekking slowly downhill to the village. The trail can be steep in parts so care must be taken here.
We are often invited to drink tea with the local goatherd as we enjoy the views from Aqabat before starting the circular route back to our cars. The return drive takes us back through Wadi Khab Al Shamsi to Dibba.
